The Herb Journal : Sketchbookmaking

Over the course of one whole day, this is an opportunity to make your own personalized herb journal under Sheila’s guidance. Using calfskin hide, traditional hessian, or handmade paper for the cover, ingeniously folded 140lb Waterford Saunders paper for the sketchbook inner, and linen thread for the hand stitching.

This unique sketchbook will allow you to paint your surroundings on one surface while recording your journal on the reverse.  This is a new concept in sketchbook journals so come along and find out how to make one.

All basic equipment and materials will be provided but here is an extra charge of £10 to cover the cost of the high quality watercolour paper.  You will leave at the end of the day with a unique beautifully hand crafted sketchbook.

This course leads on naturally to watercolour painting and herbs, but can be attended separately.

These courses have been designed for everyone, from complete beginners to the more experienced artists and will you take you through simple watercolour techniques. There will be a demonstration at the beginning of each session, equipping you with basic skills and understanding of how to use the medium. Come with an open mind and you will leave with a rewarding experience and your own personal creative artworks. All materials will be supplied but if you wish to have your own starter kit of brushes, paints and pencil to use and take away there is an extra charge of £30.00 which must be paid for when booking. This will include 2 prolene art brushes, sizes 6 and 12, Cotman’s sketchers watercolour set and 1 Derwent light wash pencil, HB.

The day will run from 10am to 12.30pm, 1.30pm to 4pm. Please bring along a pack lunch or use the charming onsite café for your lunch break and refreshments, looked after by Liberty and her team.
